Hes Run Day Four Monday

Today is the day the group split the 5 day guys go north and the rest of us will continue west. We were on the road around 10:00 am our destination today is the town of Enterprise in the state of Oregon, 280 k  away, we got separated due to a GPS issue and human error, rick got missed placed, Marty and myself spent two hours adventuring touring on sport bikes, it made for a interesting morning, we all finally meet up in hells canyon at a small gift shop / service station with a nasty clerk from hell, the after noon turned out to be a lot better great ride, lots of twisties, again spectacular scenery, arrived in Enterprise around 5:00 pm. After cleaning up we headed to a local micro brewery call Terminal Gravity Brewing, one of the best Hawaiian chicken sandwiches I have ever had, everyone said the enjoyed there meals just as much, after washing my bike, I settled down for quite evening. and look forward to tomorrows adventure, Our destination is Colville Washington.

Hes Ride Day Three, Sunday

Sunday morn Rick and i took some time to explore Salmom , we found some cool old buildings, one in particular caught our attention, it was founded in 1895. One can only imagine what it was like back then, "The real Wild West" after a brief tour of the town we started towards Macall, 438 k away, there was very little traffic which makes for a great ride. The scenery was spectacular, due to our tour of the town, we had to make up time to meet the group for lunch and red lake lodge just out side of Stanly, we then headed for the saw tooth pass, the traffic was heavy and the heat was unbearable worst was getting stuck behind a lot slow moving vehicles, the traffic never got ant better for the rest of the trip. we arrived in Macall around 6:00 pm, at the rustic inn, it was a impressive site two see 25 motorcycles all lined up in front of the motel. On arrival we were given a free drink coupon for a local Micro Brewery which was across the parking lot at the motel, this was a little gem from the moment we walked in, we felt at home, the beer was cold and, the food was great, not to mention the outstanding service. Thanks to Ben and Cristy of Salmon River Brewery. If you are ever in Macall be sure to check them out. Thanks again guys.

Hes Ride Day Two, Saturday

Hess Run Day Two, we woke to a beautiful morning, had a quick breakfast at the super eight, we got on the road about 9:30, we took highway 83 down to 200 and across to Missoula were we found the brew pup owned by Lanny McDonald, It was a a great lunch Marty bought a sampler of all the different beers, after lunch we continued south stopping for fuel and water, the weather was great 89F a bit hot for my taste but much better then rain, we got into Salmon around 6:30, made our way to the stage coach inn

25 Years of Hes Day 1, Friday

Well we got of to a good start today. The first stop was breakfast at the Chuckwagon Cafe  in Turner Valley. If you ever get a chance, it's well worth the trip. We made it to the boarder cross at Chief Mountain without insident or any tickets. The ride to White Fish was spectacular, it's what riding is all about. We hooked up with the rest of the gang at the Super 8 in Whitefish, and went over our days ride over a few well deserved cold beers. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Hess Run, funny that there would also be 25 riders. Once we were all together, it was off to Bull Dogs for a burger and beer. What a great way to finish off a day of riding. That's a wrap to day 1, time to get rest.

You bought the bike, now get out and ride.

 You bought the bike, you have the gear, now it's time get out and use it. With so many interesting places within a couple hours of Calgary, you can make a day ride into a great adventure. Over the coming months, I'll be post some great destinations for day rides and also rides to other parts of Canada and the US. The best part of owning a bike is the freedom it allows to go off and explore. Recently, I decided to leave the pavement behind and get back to exploring the back roads and small towns. This doesn't mean extreme off road by any stretch of the imagination, but exploring the many miles of  back roads that Alberta has to offer. So top up the tank, and lets get on the road to adventure.  Recently, a group of us decided to take a trip to a small town just outside of Drumheller called Wayne. It's an interesting little place with a funky diner called The Last Chance Saloon, situated in the Rosedeer Hotel, nestled in a valley surrounded by the hoodoos. Once you leave the highway, you travel down a secondary road, complete with 11 bridges. The road is user friendly for both street and dual sport bikes, so no need to worry about the Wing. Great place to stop and have a burger and beer, and do a little socializing with other travelers.I can't think of a better way to spend a day. All you have to do is grab a map, pick the destination, and get on the bike and go. Here's a few pictures from some recent rides.

The BVP 113 Bike Rack from Motovan

So you want to haul your bike but you have a topper or a box cover on your truck . What can you do? With the BVP 113 Bike Rack from Motovan, it's no longer a problem.
